We offer boat dives for all levels of experience, from the novice diver looking to continue their discovery of the underwater world to the serious technical diver exploring the many wrecks scattered along our coastline. Sydney has some wonderful dive sites scattered along it’s coastline and our boat travels to most of them including as far south as Magic Point, home to a colony of Grey Nurse Sharks and as far north as Long Reef and the famous Apartments!
Our boat is a 7 meter fibreglass catamaran, a very stable platform to dive from. She has been recently renovated specifically for divers and holds between 8 & 12 divers depending on whether we go outside the Heads or dive in Sydney Harbour.
Scheduled boat dives run every weekend. We also organise mid-week boat dives, though the sites and times vary, so please contact us for further information. Private charters are available on request.
Pick-up Location:
Our boat picks up at our wharf, conveniently located in front of PLUNGE at Chowder Bay.
Boat Diving Procedures:
1. Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) - PLUNGE requires all divers on our boat to carry an SMB. This is for your safety!
2. Hiring of Dive Gear - When booking your boat dive, make sure you let us know whether you require hire gear. If you are unsure of your wet-suit/BCD size, come into the shop at least ONE HOUR before the scheduled boat departure time so you have time to try on the equipment.
3. Departure - The vessel departs at the time scheduled so it’s important to arrive at the pick-up point AT LEAST 30 MINUTES prior, to allow enough time to get ready. If for any reason you are running late, please phone to let us know. We cannot guarantee to hold the boat for you.
4. Due to the unpredictably of weather and changing sea conditions scheduled dive sites may change on the day. This is at the discretion of the skipper.
5. Booking & Cancellation Policy:
- Full payment for boat dives is required at time of booking.
- Should you need to cancel your booking, a minimum of 72 hours notice prior to your scheduled boat dive is required for a refund.
- If PLUNGE cancels the boat dive, full refunds or alternate dates will be offered.
- PLUNGE will only refund on boat dives where cancellation within 24 hours is made on medical grounds with medical evidence produced.
6. A certification card must be shown to Plunge staff BEFORE you board the vessel. If you have not dived from a boat before, we require you to dive on one of our scheduled guided boat dives. This is for your safety!
