 Sydney has some fantastic shore dives, easily accessible with most being suitable for newly qualified divers. Shore diving is a great way to gain experience for those new to diving, is less expensive than boat diving for the budget conscious and means you're not restricted to boat availability. You can shore dive around Sydney any time of the day or night!
One of the best shore dives in Sydney is directly outside our front door at Chowder Bay. If you're interested in the more unusual temperate marine creatures, then you won't be disappointed. Among our residents are Angler fish, Sea Horses, Robust Ghostpipe fish, Decorated Crabs, Eastern Frog fish, Cuttlefish, Octopus and Moray Eels. Couple these with the usual temperate fish life and you have a dive site that's a treasure to experience.
There are also a number of lovely shore dives within a 20 minute drive of PLUNGE. These shore dives are primarily in marine reserves so the underwater life is diverse and plentiful.
GUIDED SHORE DIVES
We limit our guided shore dives to only 4 divers per guide!
This ensures you get a more personal and enjoyable experience than diving in a large group.
Weekends: PLUNGE runs FREE guided shore dives every weekend if you hire equipment from us. If you have your own equipment, there is a small guiding fee. You need to book at least 24 hours in advance and should you need hire gear, please ensure you reserve this gear at time of booking. Otherwise we can't guarantee to have your size available.
Midweek: During the week we conduct guided shore dives on request. There is a guiding fee dependent on the number of people wanting to dive. However, you have the flexibility of deciding when you'd like to go. We are happy to guide on an individual basis or as a group.
Prerequisites:
Be a qualified diver with at least an Open Water Scuba certification and have dived within the last 12 months.
