Peter Szyszka established PLUNGE Diving in 2002, after purchasing an existing dive
business near Manly on Sydney's northern beaches. As fate would have it, PLUNGE was forced to look elsewhere for another location after the landlord decided to redevelop the building. It took nearly a year before Peter found a suitable site that fulfilled his vision for his dive centre.
PLUNGE is located at Chowder Bay, the only dive centre situated directly on the shores of magnificent Sydney Harbour. We have our own wharf, swimming pool and beach directly in front of our shop and our home dive site is one of the best macro dive sites in Sydney. It's the perfect site for dive training, boat and shore activities as well as night dives. We also offer snorkelling tours and training in Sydney Harbour and it's surrounds.
PLUNGE is a fully serviced Dive and Snorkel Centre with a dive shop stocked with the latest in dive equipment, an equipment servicing department that services all brands and models of dive equipment and a top quality hire equipment department.
Most importantly, PLUNGE is a team of highly experienced diving professionals who love diving and the underwater world and are dedicated to showing others what a wonderful sport SCUBA Diving can be.
Our staff play a huge role in making PLUNGE the business it is.
Over the past 10 years, the owners of PLUNGE have
worked in differing capacities in the scuba diving industry, training, managing
and owning dive businesses. We know what makes a good scuba dive centre, and
are committed to continually improving ourselves, and the service we provide.
PLUNGE prides itself
on the quality of our education. We’re
a PADI 5 Star Centre offering training from beginner to instructor and all PADI courses in between. We're also a very
active Technical Instructor Training Facility teaching all TDI and DSAT courses
from the entry-level Decompression Procedures / TecDeep through to Trimix Instructor.
Profit from our experience and get the most out of your
scuba diving by training, diving or snorkelling with PLUNGE.
PETER SZYSZKA
Peter is the owner of PLUNGE Diving, a dynamic personality, whose passion for diving inspires all who come in contact with him. He has achieved an extraordinary amount within the diving industry over
the past 12 years and is now among the elite of diving professionals
worldwide having achieved Instructor Trainer status with 6 training
agencies - PADI Course Director, TDI Instructor Trainer for all courses
including Trimix, DSAT Trimix Instructor Trainer, DAN Instructor
Trainer in Oxygen Provision, Emergency First Response Instructor
Trainer and Instructor Trainer for IAHD (International Association of
Handicapped Divers).
As a result, Peter is one of the
most sought after instructors in Australia but this demand is not
solely due to his impressive qualifications. He has a gift for
training, an extensive knowledge in all areas of diving and a passion
for this sport that inspires all who come in contact with him.
His resume stands at more than 1000 diving certifications, with more than 200 of these at instructor level.
Peter
is certified to service over 13 brands of scuba equipment and has an
extensive knowledge of, and experience in equipment configuration
including rebreathers, oxygen cleaning and gas blending.
Not
only are Peter's teaching and other qualifications impressive, but so
too is his diving experience. He is a passionate wreck diver,
particularly deep wrecks. Peter has dived on all 7 Continents and in 32
countries around the world to depths past 120 meters in all conditions
and water temperatures.
PLUNGE
is a testament to Peter's love and passion for diving. He leads his
staff by example, working long hours to make each person's encounter
with us as memorable and enjoyable as possible.
ZOË SZYSZKA
Zoë is Peter’s partner in PLUNGE
and in life. A PADI Master Instructor and keen technical diver, Zoë’s
experience and qualifications make her one of the most competent female
divers and qualified instructors in Australia.
Born
in Ireland, Zoë first started diving in 1995 as a BSAC diver while in
university in Dublin. Upon arriving in Australia, diving remained a
weekend passion and it wasn’t until 2000 that Zoë decided to become a
scuba diving instructor. After making the decision to leave the
corporate world and teach diving for a summer, Zoë soon realised how
much she loved it and never returned to her work in an office. Instead she chose to begin PLUNGE with Peter.
Zoë
has extensive experience teaching all levels of divers, from beginners
through to Assistant Instructors and is a technical diving instructor
for TDI.
Travel
and diving are Zoë’s passion and she has travelled extensively to many
of the most desirable and remote diving destinations around the world,
from the frigid waters of Antarctica to balmy, tropical destinations
and on to Arctic waters.
At PLUNGE,
Zoë is responsible for making sure the operation of the business runs
smoothly. She also looks after marketing, advertising and
communications. She, along with Peter, loves PLUNGE and is committed to making sure your experience with PLUNGE is as good as it can be.
RONNIE DALY
Ronnie is the Scot among us, born and bred in Glasgow. His first diving experience was in a tank full of sharks, courtesy of his loving girlfriend! Having survived this primary plunge and having enjoyed the experience so much, Ronnie quickly signed up to learn to dive.
Many would be put off by the harsh diving conditions in Scotland, but not Ronnie, who found the challenge thrilling. Acknowledging the importance of continuing his training he progressed through his Specialities to Master Scuba Diver and then Divemaster.
Despite having a busy career as a financial consultant, Ronnie managed to dive all around Scotland (the wrecks still call to him), Red Sea, Mediterranean, Canary Islands and Mexico. In 2006, an opportunity arose to move to Sydney and Ronnie decided to give up a successful career in the corporate world and pursue his passion for diving professionally. He met Peter and PLUNGE, completed our instructor course and has been working for PLUNGE ever since.
Ronnie has become one of PLUNGE's most experienced instructors, rising up the instructor ladder to PADI Staff Instructor. He has also diversified his training into technical diving, discovering to his delight the wreck graveyard off Long Reef and most recently, the President Coolidge in Vanuatu. As is a theme among the PLUNGE staff, Ronnie loves to dive & travel and enjoys nothing more than leading our local and overseas trips.
INSTRUCTORS & DIVEMASTERS
PLUNGE has a fantastic team of casual Instructors and
Divemasters. When you spend time with us, you’ll get to know the faces, enjoy
the chat and camaraderie, learn a lot and hopefully begin to love diving as much
as we do.
